ABOUT

ABOUT

Goodnotes StudySpace was created during a five-hour designathon, where our team explored how Goodnotes could support the future of classroom collaboration. Through quick user interviews with students and teachers, we identified gaps in communication, coordination, and student-to-student engagement. We set out to design a more open, interactive environment that helps students feel connected and confident when working together.

CHALLENGE

CHALLENGE

Students and teachers expressed that current collaboration tools feel limited, text-heavy, and focused on task management rather than creativity or discussion. Many students struggle with unbalanced group work, unclear responsibilities, and a lack of real-time spaces to co-create ideas. The challenge was to reimagine student-to-student study group collaboration using Goodnotes as the foundation, while maximizing open discussion, visual thinking, and low-pressure participation.

RESULTS

RESULTS

Our team designed Goodnotes StudySpace, a collaborative hub that brings group learning to life. The solution introduced three core features:
1. Group Notebook for shared weekly prompts and visual co-creation
2. Study Quest, an AI-powered game that turns reviewing material into collaborative competition
3. Voice Chat for accessible, asynchronous communication

We created a complete concept flow, visual prototypes, and a clear narrative showing how StudySpace boosts accountability, strengthens communication, and supports fun, meaningful group learning. In just five hours, we delivered a cohesive system that extends Goodnotes into an engaging, community-centered study platform.

As a bonus, we also won 1st place for this designathon!
